History of The Salvation Army of Carrollton

The Salvation Army/IHS Service Center of Carrollton was established in 1996 after merging with Interfaith Health Services (IHS), a social services organization that had been serving the Carrollton community since 1986.

Programs and Services

The Salvation Army of Carrollton performs a wide range of programs and services in its goal to minister to the whole person – body and spirit – within our local communities. Funds are raised by selling merchandise at the Family Store and through a Christmas fundraiser known as the Red Kettle Campaign.

Highlights of The Salvation Army of Carrollton local impact include:

Camp Grandview – Nurtures the youth of Carroll County by offering a traditional, week-long summer camp as a free experience. In June 2023, 17 youth (ages 7-13) from the Carrollton community attended Camp Grandview – many as first-time campers. Attendees were provided chartered transportation and camping gear needs.

Disaster Support – Serves area locations when natural disasters strike, such as tornadoes or other weather-related events, through deployment of the Canteen service vehicle to provide food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and emotional and spiritual care.

Food Pantry – Hosts a monthly food distribution pantry with healthy fruits and vegetables one Saturday each month and on Tuesdays & Thursday from 9am until 11:30am.  Serving an estimated 1,265 people on an annual basis.

Thanksgiving Food Drive – Provides approximately 200 food boxes to community individuals each Thanksgiving season, along with $2,000 in Walmart gift cards.

Angel Tree Serves over 100 children yearly with toys and clothes during Christmas through our Angel Tree Program.

The Red Kettle Campaign – Generates holiday joy and local fundraising support to inspire our community to donate and/or be a bell ringer volunteer. This signature event is responsible for an estimated one-third of annual income needed to serve our local communities.

Please consider volunteering today to become an advocate and a stabilizing support unit to our communities served.
